How hard is it to fully cook a burger??
I know, my rants tend to be focused on Fast Food places, specifically the McDonald’s down the street from me. But is it really that hard to cook a burger so that it’s not pink and gray inside? This has happened to me the past threeeeee times I’ve been there. Each time that much worse.
I’m all for people wanting their burgers rare, medium rare, raw! But when it comes to my processed, packed, meat patty; I would like it to be well done. I would like to order a burger that doesn’t taste like chewing gum in my mouth and that doesn’t have dead lettuce clutching onto the ketchup for dear life. That my friends, is not a good burger. And that is the end of my mini RANT. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

Oh gosh, sounds like this rant was totally warranted! You should complain to the place, sounds kinda gross :/
ReplyDeleteYou know what, I agree. I've had meat that wasn't completely cooked before ... blech.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same rant in our household. We found that places that we used to like on occasion are all using precooked and microwaving the meat - end result - YUK. Wendys seems to be the one near us that still has a burger that is made to order and seems like it is real meat - who knew!
ReplyDeleteI worked at McDonald's in high school--and it may sound stupid, but I took pride in my work. But honestly, I don't seem to find many workers that even care these days--I never leave the counter or drive through without checking my order, because they screw it up so often.
ReplyDeleteAs for your order--They have to check the temperatures on all the grills and friers in the morning and make sure everything--meat, chicken, fish, are done at the correct temperature--you should NEVER have a pink patty--they are ALL done the same, and if it's pink, then maybe they have a problem with some of their grills--But it is absolutely NOT acceptable and they could get in a lot of trouble--I would absolutely talk to a manager--and if you don't get any results, email their website.
The manager may also be interested to know their service isn't up to par--that sloppiness is really NOT cool!
and one other thing...they don't usually put lettuce on a double, so that's kind of weird.
--But I used to do salads, etc, and we were supposed to pick out the brown parts.
The big problems are really how much someone cares about doing a good job, and sadly in the fast food industry, it's not always that much--And the other problem is what a high staff turn-around they have--While that kind of service and sloppiness is absolutely NOT acceptable, it may simply be a question of people who are not trained properly, and by the time they ARE, they're gone and someone new is learning the ropes.
Sorry for the long comment--just wanted to join in--I have a lot of the same frustrations!
And unfortunately, the best solution is complain, complain, complain.
Oh, gross! You should totally complain, set them straight. That's totally not right. Someone could become seriously ill from that.
ReplyDelete@Laura - Thank you! I don't know why I haven't complained yet, I guess it's because I hate confrontation, but my burger should definitely not look like that.
ReplyDelete@Hannah - It's not good is it? "Bleh" explains my thoughts exactly!
@Denise - I didn't know that! I think I may just have to try Wendy's out! I don't eat fast food that often but when I do I'd really like to enjoy it, and this McDonald's just isn't cutting it.
@Nymfaux - I really appreciate your input! Especially as someone coming from the same industry! When I mentioned the lettuce, I was talking in general, not about the McDouble, but I guess I didn't really make that clear. And you are so right, I definitely should complain. I'm usually so miffed I throw away my burger and then hope for better the next time. But I know I can't be the only person this has happened to since it's happened three times. And the people there just don't seem to care that they even have a job, let alone how to actually work at the job. But I'm glad you took pride in your job, I wish more people, whatever their vocation, did that more often. And my mom complained to a Burger King awhile back about a burger and they confirmed something was wrong with the grill but the manager wasn't going to do anything about it. So we haven't back there since. Thank you again so much for your input! I'm going to post this on your page as well in case you don't see it here!
@Nlmars - That's what I thought! I'm definitely going to complain next time, or call just to let them know what's up, because it really seems unacceptable.
Loren,
ReplyDeleteThats so yucky and horrid customer service...I've left you an award at my blog: http://arielemerald.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-give-this-award-to.html
Cheers!

A zombie burger! :))) You should totally print the image on T-shirts, it will be a sellout. Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope, you, ll get a better one next time!
ReplyDeleteBleh, that sounds awful. I'm sorry you had to go through that, and like people have said, I think that's definitely grounds for complaint. I'm usually not the complaining type, and I'll just hope for better next time (everyone has off days), but 3 times in a row is too much.
ReplyDeleteI've been lucky in that recently my local McDonald's has stepped up the bar in terms of service - like their employees are super friendly and polite. I always leave pleasantly surprised. Haha.
:) Glad if I helped!!!--And trust me, I don't always feel like complaining either...but, hey, I want my money's worth!--And I also found out that the times I don't say anything, I end up dwelling on it long after!
ReplyDeleteAnd same goes for the BK--If the manager isn't planning to fix the problem, corporate should be made aware--Grill problems are serious health risks and law suits waiting to happen--plus you *usually* get a coupon or something if you complain--Because they want to keep your business. ;)
You and my hubby would NEVER be allowed to go anywhere together... LOL
ReplyDelete@Fantastic Fiction - That's what I thought! And thank you so much! This is definitely a pleasant surprise! ;)
ReplyDelete@Kara-karina - Hahaha, that definitely made me laugh. I should make t-shirts! I'm sure everyone would want a zombie burger t-shirt lol!
@Krispy - That's exactly how I am. I hate complaining and I don't like confrontation in public places but three times is really too much. There's a McDonald's downtown that recently got a new manager as well and their service has improved x100! I'm so impressed and they always leave you with a smile. But going downtown whenever I want a burger would be exhausting!
@Nymfaux - You helped a ton! And I think I will complain to BK about their oven. It really can be a health hazard!
@Bookish Brunette - That bad huh??? Lol. ;)
Oh, one other thing--Whenever I get GOOD service, I try to make a point to say thank you, or mention it to a manager--Good service doesn't seem like it's as common as it should be, but it's so refreshing to find--And it can really make someone's day to get a thank you! :)
ReplyDelete@Nymfaux - You know what, I try and make it a point to give them a smile and say thank you when I get good service but your right, mentioning it to a manager would take it one step further which is something I should definitely do! It really brightens someones day and makes them feel good to know that someone appreciates their hard work. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my god. This is terrifying.
ReplyDelete@Absconditas - That's exactly what I thought!
