"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?"
I'm going to be totally cheesy and say Harry Potter! I think the movies have just gotten better and better as they go! As for which ones I disliked... I can't really think of any! I don't think there have been any that I completely disliked. EDIT: After looking over everyone's answers I realized I didn't think about this answer enough! So I'm changing it! I really loved The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Lord of the Rings. And the movie I disliked the most would have to be Blood & Chocolate! On it's own, it was alright but compared to the book it was horrible! Okay. End rant. :)
What are your favorite adaptations?

I really liked Jane Eyre, it came to my mind first because I just saw it. Usually when I see book to movie adaptations I feel disappointed.

I liked the HP movies, too. : ) And hopefully The Hunger Games and The Mortal Instruments are going to be AWESOME. I didn't like the film adaptation of Blood and Chocolate, though I really liked the book. I also liked the book Beastly, but I heard the movie wasn't so great. I'll have to see for myself. : )
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a good one! Hmmm... I'd have to say I loved the movie version of Interview With A Vampire more than I loved the book. I thought they did a great job.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I chose Harry Potter also :)

I'm actually not a fan of the movies because they changed too many things, especially in The Goblet of Fire and the Half-Blood Prince.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Harry Potter is a good one! Although some of the middle movies upset me, like the 4th one. Too many things wrong there. The early Harry movies were my fave!

Jessica@a GREAT read
I've never seen or read the Harry Potter series.

I really liked LoTR, too. And, to be honest, I read Blood & Chocolate after I saw the movie and like the movie better. However, that being said, I felt there wasn't really much of a connection between the two. Werewolves, forbidden love, but it kind of ends there.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and following me. I'm following you back. I did like the lord of the ring movies but I do think they are a bit overrated.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I am intrigued by the new version with Daniel Craig (hottie) and Rooney Mara.
ReplyDeleteI feel like hitting myself - why didn't I write down Harry Potter?! Duh. Well, I'll just pretend it's on my list!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog, Loren! Have a fantastic weekend!

Best Adaptation: The Green Mile by Stephen King. It was almost exactly like the book. except they left off the slightly freaky SK ending from the book.
ReplyDeleteWorst Adaptation EVERRRRR: Twilight.
Don't get me started ranting on that topic. Maybe they should drug test the celebs before casting so they don't sleep through their parts!
I think the HP movies have gotten better with time too, especially DHP1. I can't wait for P2. I hated Azkaban, though. The book was butchered and since it is my favorite story of the series, I take it rather hard.

Speaking of books to movies where the movies were okay separate from the books, ELLA ENCHANTED. I love the book, and while the movie stays sort of true to the spirit of it, it's kind of COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. So hated it as a book adaptation, but by itself as a movie, I quite like it. :P
ReplyDeleteLet’s kick off Memorial Day Weekend with some scandal and controversy.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved every minute of the Lord of the Rings films and felt they hit the mark when they brought Tolkien’s masterpiece to the big screen.

I love the Harry Potter movies too, they're so rewatchable/amazing. I'm so excited but sad for the last movie. It will be amazing though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Bitten Books :)
Wow, I didn't realize that Blood and Chocolate had been turned into a movie. Maybe I will have to check it out. I loved the book.
ReplyDeleteI liked that they beefed up Arwen's role in LOTR. It was the right thing to do. And no Tom Bombadil! :D That was always my least favorite part of the book.
I so agree about Blood and Chocolate. Horrible movie!

@Jennifer Hillier - That's one movie that I haven't seen that I NEED to see! As much as I love Vampires and Anne Rice, I should have seen it already!
ReplyDelete@Amanda - None?!?!? You should! Please...? Lol.
@Marsha Sigman - Your comment on Twilight made me lol, I think that's the best thing I've ever heard! Totally made my day! ;)

ReplyDeleteI prefer books to the movie...seems like they leave things out. :)
